LOUISIANA IRISES are a water based iris that should be grown in wet conditions on a continual basis. These irises were originally found in the swamps and wet areas of the deep south. Hybridizers have made huge strides in producing many new colors and variations since their discovery. Heights range from 10 to 50 inches. Louisiana water irises should be planted in moist to wet areas that will remain so all year. Full sun to light shade is the proper light requirements. Louisianas can be planted in open ground or in large pots and placed in contained pools.
