Barbara's
Vision - Jim Hedgecock-2008 - Sdlg. M-100-A-TB-36"-M
Presby Memorial Gardens asked us if we might have a seedling
that they could name and use to promote their 80th anniversary. The name
Barbara's Vision was chosen as a tribute to Barbara Walther who was so
instrumental in the founding of the gardens. The florets are pale blue
with a large near-white blaze below the beards. Form is ruffled and
fluted. Beards are medium blue turning yellow in the throat. We
think this one has star power to spare. Ice Festival X Traitor. $40.00
Cactus
Rio - Jim Hedgecock-2008 - Sdlg.
E-37-A-TB-36"-M - Jim says this one was destined for a
western name the first time he saw it. The standards are ruffled medium
red. Falls are heavily ruffled and fluted medium red with a pale blue
blaze below the beards. Hafts are medium yellow. Beards are yellow-orange
and end in 1/2 inch fuzzy blue horns. Cactus Rio produces superb show
stalks with a bud count of eight. Destined to be a favorite in our lines.
Spooned Blaze X Unknown. $40.00
Lani
Hoko - Jim Hedgecock-2008 - Sdlg.
L-71-E-TB-35"-M - When translated from it's original Indian
name, Lani Hoko means heavenly star. We feel that this iris is indeed our
heavenly star. The ruffled and laced standards are soft yellow.
Falls are heavily ruffled and fluted oyster white with soft yellow edges and
medium yellow hafts. Beards are yellow. Add to this a pronounced
sweet fragrance and Lani Hoko is complete. Everyone will want this new
yellow in their garden. Carel Dean X Feature Attraction. $40.00
Mojo
- Jim Hedgecock-2008 - Sdlg.
M-86-M-TB-36"-M - Mojo is our wild and different intro for this year. Bold
and very colorful describes it to a tee. The heavily ruffled standards are
reddish purple. The falls are heavily fluted and ruffled reddish purple
with a medium purple flash radiating out from the burnt yellow beards.
Excellent stalks with a bud count of seven to eight. Florets are large
with a mild pleasant fragrance. Mojo just might be your new good luck
charm in your garden. Lost parentage. $40.00
Radiant
Irene - Don Murphy 2008 -
No Sdlg. #
-TB-33"-M - It is with great
pleasure that we introduce the first variety from a new hybridizer, Don Murphy.
Don is from near Chicago, IL and has a second farm in southern Missouri.
Radiant certainly describes this new space ager. The ruffled standards are
champagne. The heavily ruffled and fluted falls are pale purple with bands
of purplish pink on the edges. Hafts are yellow with pale brown veins.
The large spoons are champagne white with pale purple ends. Radiant Irene
has been a very good grower for us and is certainly cold hardy. Dance For
Joy X Bristo Magic.
